June 2nd, 2006 - Internet Favoritism!?!
I recently received an email from "Meg Whitman", who is the CEO of eBay, Inc., being warned that politicians and some phone and cable companies are trying to restrict internet usage.
This email stated that they are trying to create a tiered structure, being composed of a high-speed and a low-speed (the comparison used was a super-highway vs. a dirt road) option. The high-speed option costing an outrageous amount of money that only large corporations would be willing to pay while everyone else tries to drudge through.
Below is the link given in the email. You have to be an eBay member to go through this process, but it will help make the voices heard to avoid politicians and big-business trying to control what's not theirs. By completing the subsequent forms, eBay will send letters on your behalf to specific Congress members, voicing your concern.
FIGHT THE POWER!
May 19th, 2006 - AWOL Alcohol WithOut Liquid
While not a new concept (nebulyzers have been in use for asthmatics for years) the use of it to get drunk is very enticing.
Basically you set the machine up, pour whatever alcohol you want into the machine, turn it on and it creates a fine mist of alcohol heavy vapors which you inhale.
Other than the price-tag (about $300 not including shipping and accessories) the only other con that I can see is the rate at which you would be getting the alcohol. Per their website, the unit goes through about 1/2 oz. of alcohol per 20 minute session.
Even tossing Everclear into the machine would only equal about 3 shots of regular liquour per hour. But downing a few shots inbetween puffs of this thing could be fun!
May 18th, 2006 - Anheuser-Busch Purchases Rolling Rock
First introduced in 1939 and purchase by InBev's Labatt USA in 1987, Rolling Rock's Latrobe brewery produced at only 65% capacity last year.
After rumors floating around for a while now, Anheuser-Busch has closed the deal for $82 million, moving production to its Newark Brewery.
InBev will continue to produce Rolling Rock through July 31st, if they are not able to find a suitable buyer for the plant itself, it will be closed.
May 17th, 2006 - Introducing...the QUAFFER!
It works like this, you fill the bottom portion with whatever chaser you want and then fill the top portion with whatever hard alcohol you want.
When you drink it, you get the hard alcohol first, immediately followed by the chaser. Extremely simple, yet effective! Don't ask me when your local bar will start having them available though.
